Udupi: Property worth lakhs of rupees was damaged after a fire accidentally broke out at a fruit storage shop in the Adi Udupi Sante Market of Udupi city.
It is said that a short circuit caused the fire to break out this morning in the fruit boxes stored inside the shop. As the fire spread instantly and engulfed the interior of the shop, the materials inside were burnt and damaged. Upon receiving information about the incident, the fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot, carried out an immediate operation, and brought the fire under control. It is learnt that their timely action prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring shops.
No casualties were reported in the incident. However, the fruits and other materials inside the shop were gutted in the fire, and the loss is estimated to run into lakhs of rupees.
