Udupi: The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, which aims to accelerate job creation across the country, especially by enhancing employability in the manufacturing sector and expanding the scope of social security across various sectors, has already supported the creation of 15 lakh job opportunities nationwide. This scheme has been implemented with a view to giving top priority to the security of laborers who are working for their own future and the future of tomorrow's society. With a total outlay of Rs 99,446 crore, this scheme aims to incentivize the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over a period of two years, said Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He was speaking after inaugurating the incentive distribution program under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, organized at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium at Rajatadri in Manipal.
According to statistics, in a country with a population of 145 crore, 42 crore unorganized laborers are working in India. As many as 29 crore laborers from various occupations have registered on the e-Shram portal. The central and state labor departments are committed to providing security to all laborers working in the organized and unorganized sectors. Under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, both laborers and employers are boosting the country's economy and fulfilling the dream of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat), he said. He further added that in the district, an incentive of up to Rs 48,58,475 has been given to 774 employees under Part (A) of the scheme, and 199 establishments have encashed incentives worth Rs 3.18 crore under Part (B). This scheme will provide strength to the working hands that are shaping a Self-Reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat). Along with self-reliance, a Developed India must emerge as the leading nation in all fields, he said.
Currently, the ESI facility is available only to those with a salary ranging from Rs 18,000 to Rs 30,000. However, we have requested the Union Labor Department to extend this to employees with a salary of Rs 30,000 as well. Around 19 crore laborers are benefiting from this facility, and if the scheme is expanded, even more people will receive the benefits, he said.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna spoke and said that after Narendra Modi took over the leadership of the country, many significant changes have taken place. Approximately 1.92 crore beneficiaries are entering the workforce for the first time under this scheme. This will benefit young men and women seeking employment. While employees joining work for the first time will receive an incentive of up to Rs 15,000 in the first month, employers creating additional jobs will receive an incentive of up to Rs 3,000 per month for each additional employee. Such an initiative is taking place for the first time in the country. By supporting both employees and employers, this scheme will expand formal employment, strengthen the scope of social security, and contribute to a Developed India. If officials effectively implement this scheme with honesty, it will achieve complete success, he said.
On this occasion, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi distributed incentives worth about Rs 2,400 crore to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana during a special program held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Naik, EPFO Regional Commissioner Shashikant Dahiya, Canara Bank Managing Director H.K. Gangadhar, and others were present at the program.
