A Police Sub-Inspector has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor girl.
The accused has been identified as Abhinandan Gowda, PSI at Manki Police Station in Uttara Kannada district. He was arrested by Bhatkal Town Police following a complaint filed by the victim.
According to police, the officer allegedly lured the 16-year-old girl, brought her to Bhatkal, and raped her in a lodge. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered and the accused PSI was taken into custody.
Abhinandan Gowda is a native of Kanakapura in Ramanagara district. He was transferred to Manki Police Station as a Law & Order Officer a few months ago.
Bhatkal Town Police have registered a case against him under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway.
